The Challenge

Hifdh Helper started with an extensive client brief covering Quran reading, memorization, revision, games, progress tracking, and Mutashabihat. The challenge was turning that large feature set into one connected experience that remained calm, intuitive, and easy to understand, while supporting different memorization habits and reading preferences.

The Direction

After researching leading Quran and memorization apps, I focused on creating a more refined and unified experience with clearer flows, stronger customization, and a modern visual language. The product was structured around a few core activities that complement each other, allowing users to read, memorize, test themselves, revisit mistakes, plan revisions, and track progress without feeling lost between features.

Key Design Decisions

1. Connect the memorization journey
Structured Recite, Games, Revision, Mutashabihat, and Home as connected experiences, allowing users to move naturally between learning, practice, review, and progress tracking.

2. Design reading around memorization
Added page and continuous scroll modes, audio controls, bookmarks, search, mistake marking, and the ability to hide and reveal Quran text by word or Ayah to support active recall.

3. Make progress motivating, not distracting
Used Quran progress, memorized Ayahs, revision completion, streaks, mistakes, and recommendations to help users understand where they are and encourage consistent practice.

4. Build accessibility into the system
Designed dedicated light and dark themes, adaptable Arabic and English font sizes, different reading layouts, and carefully adjusted component colors to maintain readability and contrast across both modes.

The Solution

I designed the complete product from the ground up, including the visual identity, logo, typography, design system, onboarding, account flows, reading experience, games, revision planning, search, Mutashabihat Finder, settings, analytics, and all supporting states. I also designed an animated splash screen to extend the visual identity into the app’s first interaction.

The final design includes more than 180 high fidelity screens across light and dark modes, built with reusable components, variants, shared styles, and auto layout. Every major interaction is fully prototyped, including navigation, transitions, modals, menus, search states, game feedback, empty states, and edge cases. Prototyping also helped uncover missing states and refine several flows before development.

The Outcome

The result is a complete, development ready Quran memorization product that brings reading, memorization, revision, practice, and progress tracking into one consistent experience. The full UX, visual identity, design system, interactive prototype, and implementation guidance are complete, and the product is currently under development.
